Valentine's Day & Pulwama: How to Honor and Remember the True Meaning of Love

Writer's picture: Kothari International SchoolKothari International School

February 14th—a day that carries two profound emotions. On one hand, it celebrates love, care, and the warmth we share with our dear ones. On the other, it reminds us of the sacrifice of our brave soldiers in the Pulwama attack, who showed us the deepest form of love—love for the nation. Their unconditional courage and selfless sacrifice remind us that true love is not just about words but about dedication, duty, and the willingness to protect and uplift others, even at great personal cost.

As our children prepare for their annual exams, this day offers a beautiful lesson: Love is not just in words but in actions. It is felt in the gentle encouragement of parents who believe in their child’s every step, in the quiet devotion of teachers who light the path of learning with patience and care, and in the pure determination of children who dream fearlessly, knowing they are surrounded by unshakable support. It is also seen in the bravery of our soldiers, who put the nation above themselves, teaching us the ultimate meaning of commitment and sacrifice.

To my dear students—love means showing up for yourself, believing in your potential, and striving for your best. Every late-night study session and every challenge you overcome is an expression of your dedication. And to the wonderful parents—your unconditional support, encouragement, and sacrifices are the purest forms of love that shape young minds and strong hearts.

Let today be a reminder that love exists in many forms—between friends, families, teachers, students, and in the selfless service of our soldiers. Let’s cherish and honor every expression of love, whether in our homes, our schools, or our country.

Wishing you all a day filled with love, gratitude, and strength.
